MISSION

Aviatory develops open-source software, hardware, and research for the aviation domain. The organization operates at the intersection of real-world avionics and virtual aviation, with deliverables published openly under permissive licenses.

The program spans two operational tracks. The real-world track covers hardware development, sensor instrumentation, flight-controller research, and unmanned systems. The virtual track covers flight-simulation tooling — avionics frameworks, simulator integrations, live weather data — all documented openly in Projects and the Library.

All source code, schematics, and documentation are made publicly available. No proprietary dependencies, no licensing fees, no account requirements.

How we work.

PRINCIPLE 01

Open by default.

Source code, schematics, and documentation are released as work progresses. All deliverables are MIT licensed without contributor obligations.

PRINCIPLE 02

Engineering rigor.

Hardware that ships, code that is reviewed and tested, and systems that operate in production environments — not concepts or demonstrations.

PRINCIPLE 03

Comprehensive documentation.

Project documentation is treated as a first-class deliverable. Design decisions, trade-offs, and operational data are recorded in full.
